St. Brendan the Navigator

St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Parish in Cumming, Georgia, is conducting a national search for a Director of Music to build and lead a vibrant, sacred, and reverent music program in one of the fastest-growing Catholic communities in the North Atlanta area. St. Brendan’s is a close-knit parish of approximately 5,000 families, led by the Legionaries of Christ, with a pastor and parish leadership deeply committed to making music a major priority in parish life.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a musician-leader who sees music as a ministry of prayer, beauty, evangelization, and liturgical service. The next Director of Music will have the opportunity to shape the music program of a flourishing parish for years to come, with meaningful pastoral support, room to build, and the freedom to develop choirs, ensembles, and with a desire to build a culture of musical excellence.

The role is ideal for a practicing Catholic with a love for the sacred liturgy, a strong grasp of Catholic liturgical principles, and proven ability to recruit, form, and inspire volunteers. The parish is seeking a leader with particular strength in choral direction and meaningful proficiency in one or more of the following: organ, piano, voice, or conducting. Graduate study in music is preferred, though outstanding professional experience will also be considered.

The Director of Music will oversee and help grow music across six weekend English Masses, two Spanish Masses, major feasts, weddings, funerals, and other key parish celebrations. The position calls for both musical excellence and pastoral leadership, especially in building volunteer participation across generations and skill levels.

St. Brendan’s  also has a strong and dynamic Spanish music ministry, and the next Director will play an important role in strengthening collaboration between English and Spanish music ministries.

The parish is actively investing in the future of its music program, including plans for a new 3-manual digital organ in the main church. Current resources also include a 2-manual, 36-stop digital organ in the Resurrection Chapel, a Baldwin grand piano, and additional chapel instruments.
