The Liturgical Music Institute, a 5-day retreat and educational session for pastoral musicians, is now a part of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM).

About the Liturgical Music Institute

The Liturgical Music Institute (LMI) is a program created by Director Christopher Ferraro and Assistant Director Susan Hugelmeyer. The program, now in its eighth year, takes place at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, New York, approximately 40 miles east of New York City. The Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, situated on 215 acres close to the Long Island Sound, provides a unique and tranquil setting for the Institute.  Liturgies are held in the historic monastic chapel with its three manual E.M. Skinner organ. 

Liturgical Music Institute: What To Expect

The Liturgical Music Institute provides nationally acclaimed speakers offer insightful and inspiring spiritual conferences and keynote addresses. Workshops and panel discussions for clergy, musicians and liturgists occur throughout the Symposium. In-person attendees have multiple opportunities for communal prayer including daily Mass, Morning and Evening Prayer and Taizé Prayer Around the Cross.

OCP Composer Janèt Sullivan Whitaker will present a concert of her music for the church. Featured will be her familiar songs that range from “In Every Age” and “Here At This Table” to “As Christ Is For Us”, and much more.
